Diary of an Edinburgher

An Indie meeting!

Back to our usual summer weather ie a gilet is a necessity. Mind you, I don’t really mind - folk here go crazy on a hot day - drunken mass brawls yesterday at Portobello Beach in the afternoon, and on the Meadows in the evening. What is wrong with people?

We went for a spin on the bikes round the Links first thing this morning, but there was so much rubbish lying around! We met Rufus and his mum out for a dander. They were impressed at our cycling prowess! (They’re easily impressed).

We then went across to meet Annemique - Archie’s erstwhile walker (until she got a dog of her own!). Indie is an Australian Labradoodle, and a fabulous wee dog she is too. Archie recognised Annemique from afar and went running to her. Wee Indie is SO energetic and bouncy! She flew at Archie, sometimes leaping over him or landing on him. He eventually got a bit pi**ed off with her, and gave her a telling off. She was unfazed.

Annemique and Indie came down to the French bakery for a coffee, (her friend went home with her Bross Bagel for lunch) and they had our favourite pastries which could not be resisted. We sat on the bench and had a wee picnic. Annemique told us about a doggie day care she uses, and it looks super. We’ll check it out for future use.

In the afternoon we went down the road to a pal’s for tea and scones. Yum yum.

We are both very upset to learn today of the death a week or so ago of Rob in Copenhagen. We met him when were in the city in 2013. We shared many beers over several meetings. He showed us around his neighbourhood and gave us some local knowledge about places to visit, and he came round on his bike for a meal on our last evening, bearing gifts. He was a talented photographer as well as a lovely person.

I’ve just re-lived that holiday - that’s what I like best about blipfoto.
