Day Eight

I had been warned about the climb up to Shap today but in the end it turned out to be less steep than climbs I had already encountered. The heavens did open for about 20 minutes and I was literally dripping wet as I entered Tebay services for lunch!
There followed the most tedious stretch of the entire ride, a long, straight, undulating featureless 15 miles or so against a strong headwind.
Night spent in Carlisle, crossing the border tomorrow!
