Saturday: Spices

We met up with H and J this morning for the next round of the alphabetical cuisine challenge.  It was H and J’s turn to choose (if truth be told, J’s, as H leaves all that kind of stuff to her) - we met for brunch at ‘Scandalicious’ and went for Norwegian.  It was excellent - K. and I had a dish that came with kumle, which we had never had before and which was delicious.  What is kumle, I hear you ask? It’s a boiled potato dumpling, seasoned with thyme and then pan-fried.

As always, it was good to catch up.  K. and I the headed to Commercial Drive to pick up ingredients we needed for tonight’s dinner.  Well, it would have been tonight’s dinner but when we got home I reread the recipe and realised it needed a 24 hour marinade time so it has now become tomorrow’s dinner with some rapid rearrangements made for tonight..........
