Life In Wales

Pick Your Own

We checked out after breakfast and headed to Hayling Island to go to the sunflower field belonging to Stoke Fruit Farm. We got there as it opened, and although there were a number of people already there, it wasn’t too busy.

It costs £5 per person but you’re allowed to cut 6 sunflowers each, and it was stunning and felt more like being in France than in the UK. We had a wander around the field, taking photos and then cut our 12 flowers.

We had planned to drive to the seafront afterwards, but there had been an accident and everywhere was gridlocked so we turned back. It’s a shame as it looks a nice place, but we’ll be back.

On our way home we went to Arundel and again it was very busy so we didn’t stay, and in the end we ended going to Stanmer Park. We wanted somewhere with space that we could try out the new awning for Bertie Bus, and luckily we found a spec. It was easy to assemble and offered good protection from the wind but also gave us privacy. We sat and had lunch and then put up the tent to try that out too - I now can’t wait to go camping for a night or two!
