Yesterday evening there was a LOUD BANG and I thought it was something quite close, maybe a something large had fallen over but it sounded much more like an explosion. It's a good area where we live but there are undesirables not so far away.
Through a local community facebook page I found out it was a stolen car that had been dumped at the end of a close and set on fire. Two youths had been seen fleeing the scene. The car had exploded, the fuel tank obviously and other bits such as the battery I expect. It was, in fact, a few streets away from us, not just over the back. (See extra).
It really brought back the coverage of the Northern Ireland and UK Mainland bombings in the 70's and 80's. It sounded exactly like what it was.
I felt sorry for any veterans of Operation Banner, and other areas of military operation where explosions were, and are, experienced. It would have brought it back in a much more profound way for them.
