Day 9 Castiglion Florentino to Radda in Chianti

Much cooler today with cloud, very pleasant for cycling. 45 miles today, heading north west on our way to Florence. After some easy, flat miles a routing error sent us over a steep, rough and fly infested track. Much cursing ensued, but Mr PB soon had us back on course. It was so hard pushing our bikes up the steep rough track, we even walked downhill too it was that bad.

The last 10 miles were up a 2000ft climb up to Radda in Chianti. Mr PB continues to feel rough and energyless. He has had this before so we need to keep an eye on it. Not sure if it’s just the heat and exursion. Hoping he better after dinner and a glass of Chianti!

Radda in Chianti is a tiny little town, really pretty with stunning views of steep vineyards in every direction. We're booked in to a nice hotel with a table reserved in the restaurant downstairs. Strangely there are lots of English here, mostly women with children - are the dads out cycling? One more day's cycling and we have two rest days in Florence. Looks to be a chance of rain and much nicer 25°C.
