Buckfast Abbey

Once again we set off early to see Stan at Ashburton. He still seems to be really enjoying the catering course although it sounds like there’s been quite a bit of partying . 
We had brunch in the town and afterwards tried to persuade him to come out with us but we didn’t appeal !! :)
So we had a brief look round Buckfadt Abbey gardens . They are beautifully done . It was busy but not too busy and we spent a pleasant hour bimbling about.
I liked this garden with the stag sculpture and its eco walks of logs particularly. The lavender garden was full of bees and the physic garden really interesting and well presented. We didn’t have time to go in the Abbey - another time .( see extras- if you have time ) 
As we left we had a lovely chat with one of the gentleman volunteers on duty who told us more about the history; must have been a charmer in his youth !
