On This Day .....

..... in 1944, Anne Frank and her family were captured by Nazi soldiers following a tip off from an unknown individual. Six months later she died in Bergen-Belsen concentration camp.

So it seemed like a suitable occasion to pay a visit to the Anne Rose Church in Koyoen.

The then priest of the church had a chance meeting with Anne Frank's father, Otto Frank, when the Holy Seer Choir were visiting Israel for a concert in 1971. They became friends, and the Christmas of the following year, Otto Frank presented the church with a rose that was created in Belgium in honour of Anne Frank. The rose is called "Souvenir  d' Anne Frank 1960" and was carefully cultivated in Otto Frank's garden.

I have added a photo of the inscription below the statue of Anne Frank written in Otto Frank's handwriting, quoting from Anne's diary.

Here are two more inspirational quotes from Anne Frank:

How wonderful it is that nobody need wait a single moment before starting to improve the world.

Think of all the beauty still left around you and be happy.
