Carol: Rosie & Mr. Fun

2020 Monday — Walking the Shoreline

We started out on the “middle-of-the-day highway” about half past noon. We had done our morning chores and fed the two pups; put them each in their crates for a snooze, and we were off.

Saving gasoline, we wore our beach boots and walked south, past the house construction at the end of the street, hung a right to walk toward Pacific Avenue and the sand. We stayed on the pavement till we reached 24th Street at the south end shore (there’s a bathroom there).

The tide was low; we walked straight to its foamy edge. I took photos and videos of kids and parents; people walking dogs and a man riding the waves in his kayak. And the interesting glass house.

Mr. Fun stopped to look at some newly built stairs and a guy asked, “Do you need help finding the public stairs?” “Nope! Just admiring this new construction.” They kept talking and discovered the guy and his family are from Sacramento and are renting the house next door to us for this week.

Further north on the shore, we walked up the public stairs near 5th Street next to the little red barn house, then north on Pacific Avenue, up Third St. and stopped at Sea Shanty for a glass of their tropical tea in the garden patio.

Then up the hill and into the house at 3:00. The pups were rested and ready to exit their crates and we were full of all the places we had been.
