West of Shetland

214 miles from Peterhead and we have arrived at the worksite out in the Atlantic, west of Shetland (check the map) Weathers not to bad, the odd snow flurry blowing through and a rolling swell but nothing to write home about.
The Rig is the West Phoenix, a deep water drilling rig and the ship is the Normand Aurora, a supply vessel delivering materials to the rig.

It was on a flight to the West Phoenix last october that a Super Puma Helicopter had to ditch with 19 persons onboard. The chopper managed to land on the water safely and all persons onboard were able to board the liferaft and were picked up unharmed.
