A trip to the supermarket in Mahon was the dubious highlight of the day.
I enjoyed lusting over tools and hardware as usual, and came out with a Buddha head for the garden. It was quite busy but most people were masked and behaving. The cashier on the till, who always says hello and asks after the dogs (ever since we placed a tiny puppy Buster on the conveyor belt 5 years ago), was looking harrassed and hot in her mask. "I hate the Chinese!" she said in a burst of casual racism not usually heard in this most accepting of islands.
