Bar-Headed Goose

An unexpected sighting at the Heritage Park this morning

A very knowledgeable young lad told me it was a Bar-Headed goose so called because of the two horseshoe shaped bars at the back of its head. My young friend thought it had probably escaped from some wild fowl centre but there was no ring on its leg.

According to Google this goose flies extremely high and is able to navigate the Himalayas during migration.

Sorry to those of you who follow both my journals ..... I don't usually put similar photos on both but today, because of this rather special goose both journals will be almost identical.
