Into darkness

Today's backblip is a view up the flue of or chimney that will shortly be lined so that we can have a modern pellet stove installed. You can see here that the main flue is about 50 cm wide and about 20 cm deep, and that it swerves to the right (just below the ceiling level). As you can see where it bends there is a significant soot and creosote deposit.

As it happens as I post this blip, the flue has been lined to the sound of much cursing in French and we are now waiting for the actual stove to be installed at the end of the month.
