The old store again

For those of you who enjoyed Sheila's poem yesterday, here's another one that she submitted for our poemtown project this year.

The sad sky
watches me
as I hike up
the familiar hill
past the few leaves
remaining on
oak and beech.
Their dunn tone
gives no relief
emphasizes the
pervasive grey
of fields and hills.
A brightly marked bird
flies across the path
brings momentary relief
but vanishes into tall trees
leaving the grey
undisturbed.
