Picnic at West Looe River, 1925

On another picnic in 1925, 11 year-old Lorna holds on to a pole. Is this a home-made fishing rod, or spear? Or is perhaps it's just a stick that she found on the ground and decided to use as a staff?

Also pictured here are Lorna's paternal grandparents (very properly attired for a picnic - see Grandpa's bow tie), a lady that we think could be Auntie Daisy or a nanny, Lorna's brother Theo (aged 13) leaning against the heath, and Lorna's mother Topsie. From his age, we guess that the other boy is Lorna's cousin Arthur (first son of Uncle Arthur and Auntie Eveline), who would have been about 10 at the time.
