St Nicholas, Otham

Out early this morning in view of the predicted high temperatures in the rest of the day. The promised sun appeared as we were on the last leg of our walk.

From there on it was a case of Susan doing her regular Saturday cleaning while I got on with many tasks that seemed to accumulate quickly since the last time, not so long ago, that I pruned the list.

The day, whilst hot, didn’t really live up to its billing as there were variable amounts of loud and quite a breeze at times which made conditions rather better. The skies look fractious, as if there’s going to be a storm. The forecast says not until Monday.

I did the weekly feed and check on the tomatoes, harvesting around 3.5kg of fruit: Moneymaker, Shirley, Gardeners Delight and Sweet Millions. They, at least, are doing well. I’ll make some tomato sauce and freeze ready for spicy tomato pasta in the winter.

Today’s blip is of St Nichols at Otham. The church is quite a way from the village, with parishioners using this footpath to make the journey from the village to the church. It is around this church, which is on a narrow lane, that Belway Homes want to build 400 houses. Planning permission has been refused by three Council committees. They don’t understand NO so are appealing against the decision.
