Staghorn Sumac

the Rhus Typhina or Staghorn Sumac tree originated from North America and get its common name from the way its leaves curl upwards like a stag's horn. Photographing the fruit of the tree is difficult as the leaves obscure it for much of the time. This was taken by holding back some the leaves. Ours has a trunk which leans heavily to the right and therefore needs some support to cope with the coastal breezes.. However, the overall all effect is reminiscent of those stunted Japanese trees that you see so often in their paintings.
