Swedish chap named Carl Linnaeus who named this one. He in turn named the plant after his mate Olaf Rudbeck the Younger. ` So long as the earth shall survive, the rudbeckia will preserve your glory`.
Fair enough, Olaf was a botanist, married three times and found time to have 24 children and explore Lapland.
