Jesus he knows me (and he knows I´m right)

Apologies for quoting Phil Collins (the boy´s idea)!

Today, after an early breakfast, we jumped on the coach bound for Sugar Loaf mountain via Rio Cathedral and a short tour of downtown. We took two cable cars up to the summit, and witnessed some amazing views overlooking Guanabara Bay and half of Rio, and a couple of marmoset monkeys. We could see in the distance Christ the Redeemer which was to be our next stop after lunch.

A long wait to get on board the funicular railway and 200 steps in the searing heat, we found this big fella doing his Titanic impression at the peak of the Corcovado mountain. Despite not being at all religious, you can´t help but love the statue and the stunning 360 views around it. It finally sank in that we were in Rio.

We said our goodbyes to Rodders and Lisa, ´Welsh cousins´who befriended us for the day and then headed off to a Copacabana beach bar for caipirinha and a jug of Brahma.

It soon got dark watching a local street party parade but fortunately two girls from our hotel joined for a drink, before catching a cab back. Strength in numbers, we survived the darkness of Copacabana!

We won´t mention Bob´s burger...let´s just say it´s not McD´s.
