Body Stays Stationary, Wings Go Flapping

It is amazing watching a hummingbird in flight; their body can stay completely stationary while they suck the nectar, their wings keep them there by flapping at a high speed.

Mono Monday's theme is "stationary" today so against my better judgment I changed this colorful bird into a Black & White shot.   :-))  I am adding a few interesting things about hummingbirds that I just read recently.

Hummingbirds are flying acrobats. They can hover in one spot, fly forward and backwards, side to side, straight up and down, and even upside-down.

Hummingbirds hum . . . sort of. That buzzy/hummy sound you hear when a hummingbird flies by comes from its rapidly beating wings—between 20 and almost 100 times per second.

Hummingbirds are a fast-moving, flying, whirring, shimmering jewel.

Now you know all you need to know about Hummingbirds. I hope all of you are well and continue to stay safe while you are enjoying being Nice.
