Dunnottar Castle

Well it was an early rise today to catch the 05:46 train from Inverkeithing to Stonehaven as I wanted a few shots of Dunnottar Castle just as the sun was getting up so after my 3km walk from the station this was my view absolutely stunning with a sharp frost in the North East today but worth the early rise as Sandra was away at the same time to work to Birmingham most of the remaining buildings are from the 15th/16th century but it has been fortified a lot longer the Poet Blind Harry wrote about William Wallace capturing the castle in 1297 and supposedly burning 4000 English soldiers during The Wars of Scottish Independence, also The Honours of Scotland were held there and when Cromwell and his army blockaded the castle the Honours were spirited away with the Sword, Sceptre and Crown being placed in a church until the threat of Cromwell had gone and now reside in Edinburgh Castle along with The Stone Of Destiny so this is my blip with some more shots added to my folio under Dunnottar Castle so not quite "Independance Day"1996 here but a gorgeous place to visit and you cant beat scenery like this
