Co-Labourers

So grateful for the ants we have on our Land, which has extremely poor soil - they are continually working at aerating it and carrying organic material who knows how deep. Spent some time watching this colony today; they carry these seeds down the hole, but then bring quite a few of them back up and deposit in the ring around the hole, wish I knew why. They hide during the heat of the day, but very active in the dark. Close-up in extra.

Gratefuls:
- finishing another L'Engle, Many Waters; this that the stars chimed softly at Dennys when he was getting stressed about the coming flood: Do not seek to comprehend. All shall be well. Wait. Patience. Wait. You do not always have to do something. Wait.
- Mike buying and installing the reinforced beam that will hopefully, one day, be above the arch to the kitchen
- a cooler day - think the highest was 31C; and positively pleasant now at 10pm

Going outside now to see if we can see any of the Perseids meteor shower...
