Calm Again

Today I prepared for the storm, I knew with more certainty it was coming and didn't want a repeat of yesterday. Thunder echoed around the sky foretelling the impending downpour and although the rain was as intense, wind was much less so.

The photographs I took during the storm were equally as bland as yesterday's and it was only later after its passing when the lake returned to calm waters once again, that we had some light.

Although the frame was very dark to begin with, because I had exposed for the highlights, there was considerable detail to be uncovered in the shadows. Viewing the final image belies the number of adjustments required to balance tones to reflect the scene I saw in person.
