Alternative Olympic Games Day 11

Good morning to a new day at the Alternative Olympic games.
The first competition of the day started very early in the morning at sunrise. The house martins  just took off for their long distance flight over 1000 km /620 miles. That sounds like a very long distance, but it is a sort of training flight for their travel in the south of Africa (over 5000 km), they will take in begin of September. Migrating house martins fly at an average speed of 43 kilometers per hour. House martins pursued by birds of prey can reach speeds of up to 74 kilometers per hour. We hope the martins will return safe to the AOG in about 20 hours. The results will follow! Safe flight!
