As with many of my blips, this one was taken in Sydney Park. A Time Out article of two days ago stated that it had been recognised as one of the best in the world, popular with people and dogs alike. The article says that Sydney Park has been recognised for its contributions to the community and environment in an extensive international architecture awards program. The Sydney Park Water Re-Use Project took out a prestigious award in the 2020 Architizer A+ Awards in New York last week, winning the Jury Award in the Architecture + Water category.

The chain of ponds and wetlands, which circulate through the park and support large numbers and a variety of water birds, are also a system which diverts around 850 megalitres of stormwater for treatment and re-use every year.

I've been watching Sydney Park's development since the mid 80s when it was a massive hole in the ground, to what it is now. We are fortunate to have such an amazing resource just up the road, to delight, inspire and keep us walking.

Thanks for hosting RockArea. Stay well all.
