Wagon Wheels

This morning was my first shift of the year in the craft shop. We are closed for the whole of January, and then it's mornings only in February, and full days in March. Incredibly there were two tourists in this morning! They were tour guides, up from Inverness for a few days, seeing what was happening in Orkney these days.

It was bitter cold, the bird bath was frozen solid, but the sun shone and it turned out to be a beautiful day. This afternoon Ollie and I had a good long walk up over the hill. We passed the deserted old farm, which has lots of old rusting machinery around it, mostly half hidden in the long grass. I'm pretty sure I've blipped this axle before, but anyway it is worth a second look.

The wheels are bounded in a rim of iron. It also has a local number plate on it, two letters and four numbers, so presumably one could find out what sort of vehicle it was?

It's even more interesting when seen large!
