After the deluge of last night we got a scorcher of a day. This is not normal. I can't remember a thunderstorm in Scotland that lasted hours. Usually, the day after a storm is cold and miserable and not warm. We had no problems, the newly fixed roof kept the rain out. Others didn't fare that well. Our office at KB got flooded again. No kit got damaged but the carpet will need to get replaced again. Lots of flooding elsewhere. I saw impressive video footage of the Union Canal bursting near Falkirk. It'll be interesting to see how that will get fixed. And then there is the terrible railway accident near Stonehaven. There dead and a number of serious injuries. I guess the Covid19 lockdown luckily kept the train relatively empty. These are the impacts of climate change happening right now. Our infrastructure is not designed to cope with it. Yet collectively we cannot get our act together to deal with traffic in the city which is a total no-brainer. Yes, it will piss people off but our cities will be so much nicer without the cars. And it'll help with the carbon emissions. Transport is the largest contributor of greenhouse gases in Scotland. And don't get me started on Brexit. Sometimes I despair.
