Look, no beach

Today we drove over to the coast for fish’n’chips and a walk along Werri Beach. The fish’n’chips was delicious, and everyone at the fish shop was very Covid-aware, with lots of sanitising and distancing.

Then we walked across the sand dune to the beach and – what a surprise – there was almost no beach. The sand dune ended in a 10ft sheer sand cliff, and below that the roiling waves were coming right up to the cliff. Only people more intrepid than us would walk on the narrow strip of ‘beach’.

We know there has been a lot of concern about coastal erosion in the recent stormy weather, but we hadn’t expected such a dramatic demonstration of the results.
