Seven Months

For the first time in 7 months I left the island to get an eye test and new glasses.  It felt very poignant on the way out and on the way back I just felt incredibly sad.  Seeing how a lot of people behave is a smack in the face reminder not to have any hope that this pandemic will end any time soon, and that further cases, deaths and lockdowns are very likely.

The staff on the ferry and at Specsavers couldn't have been nicer or more thoughtful and professional.  The tourists on the other hand are ridiculous, no physical distancing, no masks, no thought for other people.  M was, right sit down anywhere (a wall, a slipway etc) with bit of space and they will find you and get right up close  to you.  Ended up resorting to doing some of dry coughing - it worked but I wasn't super proud of myself.  You could spot the non tourists, masks on anxious faces and swerving and stopping, as they tried to get out of the path of people who don't seem to think there is a pandemic on.  I know this is pretty universal, but it is so depressing.
