Plus ça change...

Piper has suddenly started moulting, arguably a bit late in the year as it normally takes a few months, and it could be quite chilly by then. She hates being brushed, and anyway brushing doesn’t seem to work well, so we all just pull tufts of hair out when she’s in reach (she hates that too). Meanwhile Joey, sleek and elegant all year round, hogs the rabbit fan (yes, they have their own fan...)

The hens seem a little happier today. Brown hen was bold enough to escape their enclosure a few times, but was lured back. Grey hen is still very subdued and didn’t want to move far from the coop. Sensible girl. They have been spoiled with meal worms, watermelon, shrimp, and the last wild strawberry, and I even provided a barrow load of compost from the heap to give them something to dig in.

It poured last night, so I was let off watering the garden, but there was much busyness helping TallGirl, then a bunch of unexpectedly urgent work.

Long chat with Mam tonight and a start on the upholstery, to the tune of an Archers catch up.
