It was surprising to find the bright red flowers of Giant Montbretia  (Crocosmia masoniorum)  growing beside the WW2  tank blocks above the sand dunes in Aberlady Reserve..  Although it is far from any houses I thought it was a garden escape but It is recorded officially as a wild flower and according to the BSBI atlas is found in very few places in Britain unlike the common smaller orange Montbretia which can be found in some patches near Gullane Point.about 10 minutes walk away.
