Church Mice Organise An 80th Birthday Party

This is a fairly convoluted tail.

Our friend and client, Herr Doktor H J Beyer, well known collector and owner of a prize winning house "which created Architecture where none existed before" will soon be 80.

Pat is organising a party for him. Herr Doktor is almost monastic in his living style. His discipline is Atomic Physics.

The arrangements have been made. All involved have agreed. There are seven participants and the event will take place in our house/garden.

HJ has been summoned to attend and has been appraised of the arrangements including travel and the guest list.

He has graciously agreed to attend. The memories of his partial non attendance at his 40th are still raw.

We designed and created the "Architecture where none existed before". It is full of craftsmanship touches created by marvellous artists and joiners.

I even helped to erect what is an unusual timber frame structure. It is the only project apart from our own home projects where I have helped in this manner.

One of the entrance doors features a carved version of the Vitruvian Man by Leonardo Da Vinci.

The door is made from Douglas Fir and the man is carved with parts of the circle and square highlighted in red and green.

The sculptor was Arnold Smith and he also sculpted the subject of today’s Blipfoto which is hung in the north gallery of our house which doubles up as the kitchen.
