Pendragon Castle

Today friend R took me to some sights in Yorkshire. One of the owners of Pendragon Castle, Lady Anne Clifford, who lived in the 16th century, was an interesting character. She defended her right to own the castle, and other properties when her father died. She is someone who was well ahead of her time with regard to women’s rights. Sadly, despite Anne’s care for the properties (and there were many) this one got forgotten by later generations and is the ruin you see today. After finding a couple of geocaches , we set off for Kirkby Stephen for Lunch. Then we walked along the abandoned railway line to see the Viaduct, but we couldn’t see it but had a good walk. After this R dropped me home and went to collect Mr P who had been walking the Dales Way. He had walked 23 miles, less than planned as there had been an rti that blocked the route. We all had a shared dinner at our house. They brought yummy steak and salmon. I did salads and dessert. An enjoyable but tiring day.
