Pendragon Castle

Having just read a book on Lady Anne Clifford, when friend A suggested Pendragon Castle for our outing today, I was keen.  This is one of Lady Anne's five castles but the one her successors least liked and it was substantially demolished in 1685 to reuse the building materials.
A and I had a day out while Mr P did another 25 miles of the Dales Way. Lunch in Kirkby Stephen then we walked along a disused railway to  the Podgill Viaduct but were disappointed we could not find a path to actually view the viaduct from below.  Collected Mr P from Kettlewell after he'd been walking for 7 hours and took him back for dinner with A&G
