LD 146 Kinlochruel

I have been to this house several times before,  but I have  never had the chance to take such a picture in bright sunshine.

Kinlochruel was the estate house for which Feorlean was a farm (probably the sole one given the small size of the estate)  before the land was further divided and trees planted on much of it.

This house was built by the same builders and in the same year (sometime in the mid 1930s if I recall correctly) as the small extension at Feorlean which was Cailean's bedroom and is now a small work room for Cathleen.

We know that from local lore and it was confirmed when we found a newspaper from the same year in the lintel of the door to the room when we were having those raised over twenty years ago.

When we first came to Glendaruel it was owned by a  local family.  It was then bought by the Wills , who now own and run Kilchoman distillery on Islay, and then by an Italian family who still have it.   We have a friend who lives permanently in part of it and has for a long time.

The view from it down to the Kyles of Bute can be seen in my extra photo.
