Bumblebee on lavender

Today's the day …………………….. to bounce

It's very funny watching bees on lavender!

It seems that bees, specially bumblebees, are very attracted to lavender - possibly because it's the right colour for them - but mainly because they can easily gather nectar and pollen.  They land on the lavender flower which is at the end of a long stalk - and which immediately bends under the bee's weight.

The bee hangs on for dear life and is taken gently downwards until the stalk starts to right itself and bee is taken back up again.  It must be like landing on a giant trampoline.  The bee, of course, isn't bothered in the slightest and just gets on with the job in hand.

The lavender was positively bouncing with bees today ……………………..

PS Just noticed that five years ago someone else was doing a bit of bouncing too!
