Days Of Pearly Spencer

by David McWilliams

This wagtail was on the watch-out for insects. I really wondered about the colours of the plumage especially in the head region and suspected this to be one of the offspring of this year. My bird expert told me however that the breast plumage clearly proved this to be an older one. He also told me that this is a female, and that wagtails have five different kinds of typical plumage "suits".
