Mistle Thrush

Back home again after a very wet journey up the M5 and M6 last night.  No baby news yet!

I saw this bird land right at the top of an 85ft ash tree at the end of our garden.  I was not sure of what it was until I could get the binoculars onto it as it was against the light and I was seeing a near silhouette.  I overrode the camera meter by +2 stops in order to get detail in the bird and was able to confirm it as a mistle thrush.  It was making a most unusual call, a bit like a whirring electric motor.  When it took off another mistle thrush that I had not been aware of also lifted and I suspect the call might have been between them;  an adult confirming the presence of a nearby youngster.
