Red in Tooth & Claw

Well, there was a bit of drama in the conservatory at lunchtime.  I'd noticed there was a bit of a cobweb up in the corner where the roof joins the windows and had made a mental note to get the feather duster out.  An unfortunate hover fly had flown into the web and this not inconsiderable spider came rushing out.  She speared the fly (presumably to paralyse it) and then swiftly wrapped it up in a few strands of web and carried it off back to her lair (which is completely hidden from sight).  Having done a bit of web-surfing, I think it's a Lace-Web Spider, if so then I'm not going anywhere near that corner, even with a feather duster, as they have quite a nasty bite and can cause local swelling if they get their fangs into you!

For those who prefer a less dramatic subject, the extra is of No. 581, who has clearly been enjoying a wallow in the mud following last night's rain.  We were lucky in Holt to just get a bit of a downpour.  Sheringham (only about 6 miles away) had about 25% annual rainfall in a short space of time and suffered flooding, one of our photography friends was flooded out of her house.  Three sinkholes opened up in the town too, one outside Tesco which forced it to close today.
No 581 was snapped during the Bayfield Bird Walk which B and I enjoyed this morning, even though it was a tad humid.
