Sport in the Australian outback - No 2

Normally at this time of year there are thousands upon thousands of older Australians (grey nomads) who venture out into the outback or drive around the perimeter of Australia and usually spend several weeks on the road. Many of them miss their lawn bowls. In 2009 we too drove around Australia towing our off-road caravan and we camped at Barn Hill in Western Australia for a few days.

Barn Hill is in a remote spot on the coast of Western Australia in a very remote part of Western Australia. It is 132 km south of Broome and 480 km north of Port Hedland. The 9 km road in from the highway is a rugged dirt road.

When we arrived we were surprised to find a bowling green. Australians can't do without their sport. It was a little different from the manicured bowling greens we were more accustomed to seeing!

From our caravan we could walk down onto the beach and the three extra photos were taken at sunset on one of the days we were there. It is a magnificent spot.
