Two steps forward...

Souvenir

A quick check of the weather forecast at about 10am saw me up and out in flash before the rain was due. I decided to go to Leigh Marshes and the “Souvenir” as I hadn’t been for a while and wanted to see how it had deteriorated… nicely, I think… and hoped for some decent, moody clouds rolling in from the south. I only managed  a few long exposure shots before packing up my bag when the rain arrived.

Em isn’t going to uni this year. Queen Mary confirmed that they had already allocated all their places to those who got the required grades when they were first announced. In this instance, that basically means that all those clever young people who didn’t go to private or selective state schools, those in less “desirable” schools, those same people who were unfairly marked down by the “algorithm”, yup… they got screwed anyway. In some ways this may well be a blessing in disguise for Em as she’s now wiser and more experienced, and a more relaxed/gap year after school can’t be a bad thing. That said, the process of applying for next year basically starts now with tests in September!
