Broughton Heights

Today we went down to the Scottish Borders region to Biggar, and then to Broughton.  We have walked many miles in this area, and love it, but at the moment cannot walk the hills so just have to content ourselves with a longing look at them.

It was a day of sunshine and showers, with very heavy clouds, very atmospheric.

We drove up to Broughton Place, which is an historic house designed by Basil Spence in the style of a 17th-century Scottish Baronial tower house.  For some years in the past it was an art gallery as well as a home, but the art gallery is now closed.  Have attached an extra of it.

On the way home we past Tinto Hill, which we have always enjoyed climbing.  So I have made an extra of its picture too.

We stopped at Biggar for a milk shake, to add to our enjoyment of a lovely day out.
