Upside Down.

Hypothetical situation:

Say a scientist really wanted to study owls in North America yet he found out that he was moving to Australia. How does he respond? Does he study kangaroos or some other random animal? Continue life with the goal of someday returning to those owls (if they aren't killed off by global warming by then)? Or does he like just give up his livelihood to pursue those owls?
