Mjordorfjödur

After an interesting night at campsite, a family arriving at 11pm, kids screaming, truck running for half an hour, we managed a good nights sleep! Another sunny leisurely breakfast, was followed by a drive down the rest of the Mjordafjordur, on a narrow dirt road with lots of abandoned farms on the way. Beautiful coves, cormorants, kitty wakes and a bright orange lighthouse at Daltangi, the most easterly inhabited place in Iceland. Then all the way back we came, over the dirt road steep pass to Egilsstadir. Stopped at a new place there, Askur pizza place and brewery. A great new venture, all their craft beers were bearing the names of local mountains. Did some shopping at the Bonus supermarket, then headed to one of our favourite spots Borgafjordur Estri. Wow the campsite was already busy at 4pm, but we got a great spot. Cooked dinner, then went up the Elf rock, where the queen of the Icelandic fairies lives.
