This was a wow for the week

I was hoping to sneak up on the hummer or clearwing, but instead this was on my butterfly bush. Papilio cresphontes Cramer- otherwise known as a Giant Swallowtail. Just too cool. It was frantically feeding on the butterfly bush. Apparently they will feed on the nectar of a lot of different types of flowers , but pricklyash and hoptree  are host plants. I have a butterfly book my son gave me for Christmas which lists their range as Southern , but the internet says Southern New England  down. Biggest butterfly I have ever seen!. A whole bug photos in  extras.
