ALL ABOUT THE BLUES

Spion Kop cemetery was alive with butterflies again - mostly Common Blues - all frantically making the most of a day of good weather between yesterday's downpours and what's likely to be tomorrow's downpours if Storm Francis reaches us. Here are a couple busy making more blues for next year.

Also if any insect experts are looking in, please can you help with the ID of the extra. My book suggests Firebug or Eurydema dominulus, neither of which should be within hundreds of miles of the north-east coast apparently. I've also posted it to i-Spot to see what they make of it.

EDIT: Lathyrus suggests the Scentless Plant Bug / Cinnamon Bug (Corizus hyoscami), which is notable by its absence from my "Complete" Guide to British Insects!
