Man at Work

We were hit by storm Francis today.  Heavy rain and gale force winds battered the house.  Our neighbour across the road has been complaining to the council for a long time regarding a tree outside the front of his house which he says is rotting and has already lost one of its branches.  Today the storm brought down a much larger branch, large enough to have done serious damage to anyone it hit; it lay the length of his front garden and onto the road.

He phoned the council, and two councillors, and the lumberjacks appeared pretty quickly.  Four trucks including a shredder turned up and they set to work.  They soon cut up and shifted the main culprit and then started on the tree itself.  Every branch was lopped off and logged or shredded leaving the trunk looking a bit forlorn.

I'm not sure if the main trunk is going to be removed but we're sad to see a branchless, leafless tree that was laden with red berries decimated.

Anyway, I had a good view from our front bedroom and was able to take a series of photos.  I was going to do a collage but think I quite like this action pic with the sawdust flying.
