A Grand Tour!

Mum and I set off on a local adventure today...picnic in the backpack and face masks at the ready...after all, they're the new fashion accessory these days. We're so 2020. ;-) 

Our first stop was Ilkley where we enjoyed a walk around the town, stopping to look in various little shops. Lovely to see lots of people shopping locally. We then had a picnic by the river. 

Next stop...Pateley Bridge! We enjoyed the drive over the tops including the infamous cycling climbs of Blubberhouses and Greenhow. Pateley Bridge is a tiny market town in Nidderdale so we just ambled along by the river and went up the main street. It was extremely quiet with very little open. My blip is taken on said main street, just before the heavens opened! We made a run for the car and headed off on our tour...to...Burnsall! 

The plan was to get a cuppa but both cafés were shut. However we enjoyed our little meander across the bridge and by the river to discover this was the case! 

Skipton was on our route back home so it seemed rude not to call in. We got a brew and had a little look in Craven Court. Again, extremely quiet and with every trip to Skipton, more and more empty retail units are appearing...very sad sign of the times. 

A really fun day of galavanting!! I'm now back in my cottage and the rain continues to pour. I think it's a night for lighting some candles! I've not done that for a while.
