Samphire Hoe

It was a beautiful morning though with rain promised later and we'd promised ourselves a jaunt to Samphire Hoe approached by a one way tunnel under the white cliffs between Dover and Folkestone. It is an artificial space created by the spoil from the Channel Tunnel and now a nature reserve partly aided by an ancient breed of cattle left to graze. If you enlarge you can see a train running along the bottom of the cliffs before entering a tunnel below. Deep down beneath is another tunnel: this is where the Channel Tunnel passes from under land to under sea. in the distance is Folkestone. As we walked back we heard a familiar roar: two Spitfires crossed each other above.
