The curling pond

Don’t be fooled by this picture - it rained most of the day. During a brief dry spell we’d a walk in Logierait Woods above the A9, and came across this lochan. The Forestry Commission map named it as a curling pond - quite a big one and I doubt it’s seen much use over the last few years. The remains of gable of the curling hut still stand, and google tells me this lochan is an important breeding site for the Northern Damselfly.
